Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains what Same Moment Live collects when you use it, why, who receives it and how long it is kept. 공명 (Gongmyeong) operates Same Moment Live. By using it you agree to this policy and to the Terms of Service.
YouTube and Google
Same Moment Live uses YouTube API Services. By using Same Moment Live you also agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google handles data under the Google Privacy Policy.
From YouTube we receive public information about live streams: the title, the thumbnail, the channel name, whether the stream has live chat, and its current number of concurrent viewers. It describes streams, not people. We keep it for no more than 30 days and then delete or refresh it.
We do not ask for access to your YouTube account, and we never see your Google password. Signing in with Google only tells us who you are (see “What we collect”).
The streams play in YouTube’s embedded player. When a page with the player loads, the player collects and shares some basic data with YouTube, for example to show the thumbnail and title, to check whether the video can be played, and to prevent fraud and abuse. A city page may start playing its main stream by itself, muted, so YouTube can receive playback data as soon as the page loads. If a page shows YouTube’s live chat, that chat is also provided by YouTube. YouTube uses this data under the Google Privacy Policy.
What we collect
- Sign-in. When you sign in with Google we receive your Google account identifier and your email address. Your Google name and profile picture are not stored.
- Display name. Every account starts with a generated display name such as Traveler-1A2B. You can change it. It is shown next to your chat messages.
- Chat messages. The text you post in a city’s chat room, with the display name and place badge you had at the time, the city, the time, and whether the message is shown or hidden. A message is visible to everyone in that room. Reports you make about other people’s messages are stored with them.
- My places. The cities you save as favorites, whether you lived in, visited or want to go to them (with the years you lived there), and whether you want reminders about them.
- Usage measurements. We count visits to city pages (the city, the time, and the kind of share link the visit came through, for example a link shared on X or in an email). For signed-in people we also record sign-ins, chat posts, places added and the days you were active, and we note how many people are connected to each chat room over time.
- Daily counters. How many messages, reports and place changes your account made today, so that fair-use limits can be applied.
IP addresses and user agents are not stored in our database, and usage measurements contain neither. Cloudflare, which delivers this site, processes IP addresses to do so and to protect the site from abuse; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
How we use it
- To run the service: sign you in, show your chat messages and place badges, and remember your places.
- To send you an email reminder before an event in a city you saved, unless you opted out. Every reminder has an unsubscribe link.
- To keep the chat safe: a list of blocked words, limits on how much one account can post, reports, and review by the people who run the service.
- To learn whether the service is useful, using the counts described above.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for anything that is not described here.
Who receives it
- Other people in the same city room: your chat messages, display name and place badge.
- Google: sign-in is provided by Google, and the video player and live chat by YouTube, which is part of Google (see above).
- Cloudflare: hosts this site and our database, protects them from abuse, and runs Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page visits.
- Resend, our email delivery provider: your email address and the text of a reminder, when we send you one.
- The people who run Same Moment Live, to answer your requests and to review reported messages.
- Authorities, only when the law requires it.
We do not share personal information with anyone else.
Advertising
Same Moment Live does not show ads and does not allow third parties to serve content or advertisements on its pages. Videos play inside YouTube’s own player, which YouTube controls.
How long we keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Stream information from YouTube (titles, thumbnails, channel names, viewer counts) | 30 days, then it is deleted or refreshed |
| Chat messages and the reports made about them | 90 days |
| Sign-in session | 30 days, or until you sign out |
| Account (Google account identifier, email address, display name), saved places and daily counters | Until you delete your account |
| Usage measurements | As long as the service runs. They contain no IP address or user agent, and their link to your account is removed when you delete it. |
Your choices
- Email: every reminder has an unsubscribe link. You can also turn reminders off for a city under My places.
- Sign out whenever you like. That ends your session.
- Delete your account: write to support@samemomentlive.com from the email address of your account. Within 7 days we delete your account and everything tied to it: messages, saved places and counters. Deleting data here does not delete anything stored by YouTube or Google; to delete data they hold, use their own tools.
- Google access: you can see and remove Same Moment Live’s access to your Google account on the Google security settings page.
Depending on where you live, for example in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to have it corrected, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to complain to your data protection authority. Write to us to use these rights.
Children
Same Moment Live is not directed to children. Streams that YouTube marks as made for kids are not shown.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes in a way that matters, we update the date at the top. If a change affects what we do with your data, we tell you on the site.
